Taking a ice bath good?

I've thought about taking an ice bath before, you know, the one where you put ice in a bath tub, and fully submerge your body. You can choose to dunk your head of not, but you at least sit neck down in a ice bath. Has anyone here ever done one? I know most people do it for recuperating after a big workout or playing a major sport like football, but does anyone here do it just because? Maybe the feeling of being so cold is freeing in a way?

I might do it one of these days, as I'm thinking about getting one of those portable bathtubs. Do you think it's helpful for mental health in any way? I know sitting in a nice warm jacuzzi can be more than just comfortable, it can be rejuvenating on the mind, almost relaxing. So I wonder if there is a similar affect with an ice bath.

Ice baths can boost mental clarity by reducing inflammation and triggering endorphins, giving a refreshing, alert feeling. While uncomfortable at first, many find them empowering. They’re great for post-workout recovery and stress relief—just start gradually and monitor temperature for safety.

I once had an ice bath and I must say that it's breathtaking. It hurts but it's a good therapy and that is why it is used by athletes and people who are anxious.
That sounds intense but refreshing! How long did you stay in the ice bath, and did you notice any immediate effects on your body or mood afterward? Would you try it again?
