Panic Attacks, Quick Relief Techniques

Breathing exercises, grounding techniques, and mindfulness can help during panic attacks. Medications sometimes prevent future episodes. Which strategies have you found most effective when dealing with sudden anxiety or panic attacks?

I found what works for me, is to take a back seat and take a break whenever I feel a panic attack coming on. sometimes that is needed. Medications can certainly help others, but it's not for me. I don't have panic attacks often, but they can be a burden to me. Stress is a big cause for me, but it's only when I am really overwhelmed and stressed.

During a panic attack, focus on inhaling through your nose and exhaling slowly through your mouth. Counting breaths, repeating calming phrases, or visualizing a safe place can ease intensity. Gentle movement or walking also helps release built-up tension.

I find deep breathing, grounding exercises, and focusing on the present moment most effective, while occasional therapy provides long-term coping tools.

I find it useful to breathe slowly when I am anxious or almost having a panic attack. I attempt to breathe in and out or I take something chilled and sometimes, it makes me feel brand new. A conversation with a friend can also be very helpful.

My daughter had a panic attack recently; sadly, deep breathing didn't help her, so she was hospitalized for 3 days for medication. Now she is on medication for anxiety and is now feeling better. But still, we could not figure out what stress she has that caused it. She is trying to calm her mind by avoiding overthinking and involving herself in the things that she likes.
