Ever overcome an addiction?

Have you ever dealt with an addiction that you were able to overcome? Maybe it was alcoholism or some form of drug addiction. What'd it take to get you out of those addictions?

I myself would only say I was addicted to food, as I have in the past overdone it with the food. But these days I've calmed it down a lot. Back in the day I used to be really addicted to pop, I'd drink a lot of it in a day, maybe too much. And it wasn't the diet soda. Now days I only drink diet, and I limit myself to a certain amount a day. As well, I monitor my food better. So things have gotten better.

But what about you, have you ever dealt with an addiction before?

Thankfully, I don’t have any kind of addiction, I was never addicted to anything but I have relatives who are alcoholic and they also have depression. I don't know if depression is caused by addiction or addiction caused depression

Alcoholism sucks, I too have had family who have been addicted to it. My father used to be a heavy drinker, but in his old age he doesn't drink anymore. So I am thankful he gave that up.

And yeah, depression can certainly be a cause of addiction and it can be the other way around where the addiction causes depression.
