Self-help authors and motivational speakers usually recommend you to become positive. Well, being positive will certainly empower you, however, there has been some studies where it has been established that excessive optimism may actually backfire. Blind positivity is no more helpful than constant negativity. What you truly needed is a balanced perspective, a mind that can weight positivity and negativity, or let’s say a righteous mindset. What does this actually mean? Well, this means you are able to see or judge situations as they are, acknowledging both the light and the shadows.

Balanced thinking helps mental wellness by reducing stress and improving decision-making. It encourages seeing situations from multiple perspectives, avoiding extremes, and managing emotions calmly.

When you are overly positive, when reality sets in and you have to face the other side of life, you would be so disappointed that you would fall into depression easily. It is better to always be realistic on your expectations so that you would not have your hopes dashed and fall into depression.
