Despite being hyper-connected, Gen Z reports extreme loneliness. Is it social media, urbanization, or lost community ties? Of you belong to this generation how do you find real connection? What’s your go-to way to combat loneliness?

I think young people feel isolated due to heavy social media use, less face-to-face interaction, and high pressure from school or work. Changing lifestyles and urban living also reduce close community ties, making loneliness a growing epidemic among youth.

I completely agree, heavy social media usage often creates superficial connections, increasing feelings of isolation. From my experience, less face-to-face time and urban lifestyles weaken community bonds. Addressing loneliness requires fostering real-world interactions and supportive environments beyond screens.

Most youths have placed so much emphasis on social media connections that they become detached to the idea of real friends. The consequence is that those online friends won't be there for them when they need it, and that's where the feelings of loneliness starts from.
