The Healing Power of Silence

Silence can be uncomfortable yet transformative. Have you practiced intentional silence, through retreats, meditation, or quiet walks? How did it affect your inner peace or ability to focus?

I never have tried any of the above, but I do like silence from time to time. There has been times where I would just stand in my home, in peace and quiet and just think. I actually like having noise when I go to bed, for example, I turn on my fan every night, even if it's cold outside. I like having noise when I go to sleep, as I don't like pure silence when I go to bed.

I have practiced it and it feels great. I learned how silence can help you fix your mental health issues and experience happiness from Mahatma Gandhi. It is says Gandhi used to remain silent every Monday. he lived like a hermit so it was possible for him but for most of us, remaining silent every week for the entire day is not possible.

Honestly, I enjoy silence too, but I do it in moderation. If it’s too quiet, I start getting restless, like my brain won’t just shut down. I’ll usually put some music on to deal with this. But sometimes just sitting there in peace feels pretty good.
