I don't know if there are any studies related to this but having a shower or a bath improves my mental health. After a shower or bath, I feel relaxed and fresh. There are studies that suggests that cold water shower boosts immune system, tightens skin, speeds up metabolism and depuffs face. However, based on my experience I can also tell that cold shower can make your mind alert and make you feel better. Hot shower is said to relax muscle and clean pores, but I have also felt that anxiety and stress will be gone after hot shower or bath.

Do you take shower or bath as a way to relax and ease stress and anxiety?

I love taking baths when I am dealing with anxiety and stress. Sometimes a nice hot bath, and some music can go a long way. I think showers are fine, but my go to are baths, because they can be extremely relaxing. Showers can be too, but I prefer to sit in a hot batch over standing under water. But yeah, I think it can do a lot to help with anxiety. And who doesn't love a good shower or bath after a long work day?

Medical studies suggest that showers and baths can have real mental health benefits. Warm water helps relax muscles and reduce tension, which can lower stress levels. Immersion in water can also improve circulation and promote better sleep, which supports overall mood. Some research even shows that cold showers can boost alertness and resilience to stress. While not a replacement for therapy or other treatments, regular bathing routines can serve as a simple, accessible way to support mental well-being.

I use baths and showers for relaxation.
