Does Technology Make People More or Less Social?

Social media allows constant connection, yet loneliness is increasing. Are people truly more connected, or is technology creating artificial relationships? Have digital interactions enhanced or weakened your real-world relationships?

I find it easier to post text and engage in conversations than speaking. I personally rather have friends online than in real life. I do have friends in real life (well only one really) but it can be draining to go out and do things at times. I think it helps introverted people become more social if that makes sense. We don't have to leave the comfort of our homes to talk to people and I think it's a good thing.

I think social media has created avenues for people to have real connections with each other. There are people that find their comfort saying things they normally won't say in face to face conversations. This allows them to bare their minds and foster genuine connections.

Technology is a double edged-sword. For some it may be a boon (especially the introverts) and for others, it may be a time waster (for those who engage for hours doing unproductive things online). I would say, to each their own.

I think technology makes me both more and less social. It connects me with distant friends online, but excessive screen time can isolate me from real-world interactions.

I believe technology makes people less social. People are always on their phones and they hardly engage in conversion with people in person.

Technology is creating fake socialization. Prior to social media, people used to create genuine friendships and bonds. You can't compare that with the superficial friendships that we have today where people don't even care beyond social media clout. Technology has created more socialization though but it is not as real as what we grew to know.

Technology was actually ment to make people a lot more social but the truth is today we have people who are so engrossed to the Internet but do not have any social ties offline.

Nowadays, you can have five people in a room and the room is as silent as a graveyard. They don't have any conversation with each other as all of them are hooked on their mobile phones watching reels, chatting and the likes. Technology has made people more anti social.

Technology connects us instantly but often lacks emotional depth. Digital interactions can maintain contact, yet overreliance sometimes weakens real-world bonds and leaves people feeling isolated despite constant online activity.

In my opinion, I think it's both. The reason is that it connects people that may not have ever met but at the same time, it can make us ignore those that are around us. I can continue chatting non-stop online but in real life, I might not be able to gist to that level. 😂 We just need a balance. Technology is not bad, it all depends on how we are using it.
