The Stigma Around Mental Health Treatment

Many people avoid therapy or medication due to fear of judgment. Reducing stigma improves access to care and recovery. How do you personally approach mental health conversations to make them more open and supportive?

I think needing help is perfectly fine. Whether it be by using medication or by doing therapy, there are many options out there that can help you through mental health issues. I think there is stigma because some religions and beliefs don't agree with it. Some people may not like using medication because it alters too much, or makes them feel worse. I think some people don't go to therapy because they're scare to let out their feelings.

But I think people need to know it's okay to ask for help. It's okay to take medication if it works for you. It's okay to see a therapist. If you need help, there is support out there, you just need to reach out to someone, or to a support hotline. Sometimes just talking helps with the stigma.
