What are some myth's about mental health that you used to believe? I always believed people with mental illness were crazy, and I don't believe that's the case these days. I think we're all struggling with mental illness in our own way. It doesn't make someone crazy to suffer from it. Another myth I always thought was that mental health issues are a one off thing, as in they only happen once. I don't believe that anymore though as I know mental illness is a lifelong thing that we have to control ourselves.

What are some myth's you believed in around mental health that you learned wasn't the case when you got older?

I once had a misconception that mental illness was simply a strength issue. You know, you could shake it away with determination. Now I know that the notion is totally wrong. It is a sickness just like any other type of diseases. So, it requires understanding and proper treatment.
