So recently I witnessed an assassination of right win political activist Charlie Kirk. I'm sure you all have heard the news by now, but he was assassinated while attending a public debate at a college in Utah. A sniper 200 yards away shot him, pretty much killing him right on the spot. I saw the video of him being shot, and it was disturbing. But I am very desensitized to violence, as I consonantly see death and murder plastered all over social media.
And that leaves me to this topic. Kids are seeing these videos on social media on the daily. They saw this man, shot in cold blood, speaking his own opinions. No one should die because of their opinions. I never agreed with the guy on his views, but I also wouldn't kill someone for having different opinions and views. It's a sad world we live in, that this has kind of been normalized. Especially when the same exact day, a school shooting happened.
So do you think seeing all of this violence on social media, and in our media in general going to protect our children? Will children become desensitized to the ongoing violence around the world?
